Pelvic floor, first visit

The pelvic floor is the group of muscles that supports the bladder, uterus and bowel and helps you stay continent. Pelvic floor problems are common, especially during and after pregnancy, but many people wait a long time before seeking help. With the right examination and training, most problems can be improved.

The visit is with our specialist physiotherapist, who has advanced training in women's health, gynaecology, obstetrics and urology. The pelvic floor visit is only available at our City clinic.

A pelvic floor visit suits you if you have, for example

  • Urinary leakage or difficulty controlling gas or stool
  • A feeling of heaviness or prolapse
  • Pain or tension in the pelvic floor, for example during intercourse
  • Tailbone pain
  • Pelvic pain during or after pregnancy
  • Problems after childbirth or gynaecological surgery

How it works

  • We start with a conversation about your symptoms, your history and your goals.
  • Then we carry out a thorough examination. When relevant, this includes a vaginal examination of the pelvic floor muscles, always agreed with you.
  • You get a clear assessment, and together we make a treatment plan with exercises that fit into your life.

The visit is 60 minutes, so there is plenty of time for conversation and questions. Contact us if you are unsure whether this visit is right for you.
